Words for 2023

It’s a New Year and the start of a new week as well! The New Year fell on a Sunday which for many, like myself, it’s the perfect week because I can start my planners out just the way I like them. Planners rejoice! After skimming through the internet though I realized that for many this meant a serious case of the “Sunday Scaries”. When you add this with how many new parents are enjoying their first season of normalcy…. It’s a lot. So, let’s break down these thoughts. Instead of focusing on goals for 2023 let’s focus on WORDS. What are your words for 2023?

Goals, intentions, and plans are all a great concept. They have helped me for many years. But as a mom of a toddler, running a small business, and trying to balance it all, goals can be daunting. What I have found to help me are Words. They’re more so themes on how I want to lead my life.

Earlier this week I posted that my word for 2023 would be connection. This is true but it’s not the only word. I also want present to be my words because it means I will slow down. It means I will choose to take on less and delegate when I can.

Other popular words for 2023 I think can help you are:

Patience

Love

Acceptance

Challenge

Curious

Brave

Growth

Fluid

Joy

Compassion

Intentional

Consistent

These are just some that popped into my head right now. I know that some days it may feel very hard as parents, I have them often, but I ground myself and remember how we’ve made it this far. We can make it through another day of parenting and balancing it all.

Connection & Community

One of my Words for 2023 is connection. I know it’s a popular word within the parenting world, but this scenario of connection is meant for connection with our community. Harper will be 4 this year! Last year her world grew exponentially once she started school and it’ll continue to grow. I want to focus on the connection we have with our community and within our world.

I hope this helps you feel more excited for this year. Let’s focus on Words for 2023 and not a long list of goals and intentions.

I just want to wish you and Harper a wonderful start to 2023. I have an 18-month-old and found you around her first birthday. I just want to say that I love your content and resonate so deeply with the way that you parent…I’ve truly found that each content item you post is something I’ve either begun doing myself (and loved the confidence boost) or something that fit perfectly in our schedule of already fun activities and child-led momentum. I hope that you know you are positively shaping the parenting community, and it shows! My daughter is strong-willed, confident, and already knows how to regulate her emotions (with help from mom and dad). Blessed 2023 to you, again!
